Ensuring adequate nutrition, NutriSource large breed

It can be difficult to satisfy your pup’s appetite while providing the nutrients needed for growth and development. Likewise, if your pup tends to over eat, it can also be a challenge to keep your pup’s weight in check. After trying several different brands of food, NutriSource Large Breed proved to be a winner. The food comes in chicken, lamb, and beef. Bruno and Beau love all 3, and we keep them in rotation. Notably, the boys will not over eat when provided NutriSource. In general, pups seem to have a keen sense of whether their nutritional requirements are met. Because of this, they tend to always desire more food when those needs are not satisfied. Therefore, it is reassuring that Bruno and Beau feel satisfied after feedings.

The food is not grain free. Grain free diets tend to be deficient in taurine and/or the building blocks your pup needs to make its own levels of taurine. Taurine is an amino acid that’s necessary for the development and function of the heart and muscle cells. It also plays an important role in eye, brain and immune function. Deficiency in taurine can lead to dilated cardiomyopthy, which is a life threatening heart disease. Dogs with DCM develop an enlarged heart with weakening of the muscles. The heart becomes less able to circulate blood and, over time, fluid builds up in the lungs. DCM is irreversible and worsens with time, although treatment can slow the progression. Foods that contain a limited amount of taurine have been linked to this disease.

These products not only contain the appropriate building blocks for your pup to generate their own taurine, but they are also supplemented with taurine :)
