Potty Time - Bags and Scoopers

The bigger the pooch, the bigger the potty. Prior to having dogs, I never wondered how many dogs existed within 1 square mile of where I live, nor did I consider how much potty they produce. I have become hyper aware of the plethora of bowel movements, and, how they are collected and discarded.

Nothing makes me cringe more than a thin poop bag. These bags are sturdy and feel of substance. They come in scented an unscented versions. They have been able to wrangle every potty that has ever been expelled.

Occasionally, if both pups go simultaneously, I am able to scoop them both up in one bag!

These compostable bags are made from a blend of vegetable starches and PBAT and meet the ASTM D6400 standard for municipal composting as well as the EN13432 Home and Industrial standards for compostability. At least 90% of the material will have degraded within 12 months at room temperature. The packaging and roll cores are also made from recycled materials.

Collecting poop at home requires a different approach. Another way to assist the environment and maintain a solid conscience is to flush the poop if you can.

The Environmental Protection Agency endorses flushing as a safe way to dispose of dog feces.

The ActiveDogs metal pooper scooper is my go to for poop in the snow. It is nearly impossible to cleanly pick poop from snow without leaving residue, therefore, it is necessary to grab a fair amount beneath the poop for a clean swipe. This scooper requires both hands to use and come in flat end and teethed versions.

The one-handed plastic PPOGOO scooper is great for quick clean pick-ups in grass. I also use it for surfaces you can spray/wash down that you do not want to destroy with a metal scooper.
